为了进一步提升我校本科生英语演讲能力及参与解决全球问题的能力，上海交通大学外国语学院将联合国际合作与交流处以及教务处在全校范围内举办首届“本科生全球胜任力”英语演讲比赛。全球胜任力是指对地区、全球和跨文化议题的分析能力；对他人的看法和世界观的理解和欣赏能力；与不同文化背景的人进行开放、得体和有效互动的能力；以及为集体谋福祉和推动可持续发展的能力

现将比赛相关情况及工作安排通知如下：

比赛形式

本次比赛要求参赛者围绕联合国制定的17个全球发展目标(https://sdgs.un.org/goals)，进行三分钟演讲，用生动、易懂的演讲内容和语言表述阐述自己的理解和观点，吸引听众、促进交流。

参赛资格

参赛者须为上海交通大学在校本科生，国籍不限。

比赛要求

• 演讲时间严格限定在三分钟之内。

• 幻灯片不超过五页。

• 不可出现附加道具（如：服装、乐器、实验室设备、动画背景等）。

• 演讲中不允许使用其他的电子媒体素材（如：音乐或录像）。

• 演讲需以白话进行，不可出现诗句、说唱或演唱等其他语言形式。

• 当演讲者通过动作或语言开始演讲时即开始计时。

• 参赛选手需着正装进行演讲。

• 评审委员会的决定将为最终结果。

比赛时间安排

演讲线下举行，初赛时间为2021年12月1日13时，决赛时间为2021年12月8日13时。

^{Notice on the 1st SJTU “Global Competence” English Public Speaking Competition}

^{for Undergraduate Students}

The School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University will jointly organize the first “Global Competence” English Public Speaking Competition for undergraduate students with the International Affairs Division and the Office of Academic Affairs. This competition is aiming to further improve the English speaking skills of undergraduate students and their abilities to participate in solving global problems. Global competence refers to the ability to analyze regional, global, and cross-cultural issues, to understand and appreciate the views and worldviews of others, to interact openly, appropriately and effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as to work for collective well-being and promote sustainable development in the long run( https://www.oecd.org/pisa/innovation/global-competence/).

About the competition

This competition requires participants to give a three-minute speech around the 17 global development goals set by the United Nations (https://sdgs.un.org/goals). Please use vivid and easy-to-understand speech content and language expressions to explain your understandings and opinions.

Eligibility

Registered undergraduate students of SJTU are eligible to participate in the competition.

Rules for the competition

• Presentations      are limited to three minutes.

• No      more than 5 slides are permitted.

• No      additional props (e.g. costumes, musical instruments, laboratory      equipment, animated backgrounds) are permitted.

• No      additional electronic media (e.g. sound and video files) are permitted      within the presentation.

• Presentations      are to be spoken word (e.g. no poems, raps or songs).

• Presentations      are considered to have commenced when the presenter starts the      presentation through movement or speech (timing does not include the      presenter’s title slide).

• Speakers      should present in professional attire.

• The      decision of the adjudicating panel is final.

Timeline for the competition

The preliminary competition will be held on campus at 1 p.m., December 1st, 2021; the final will be held on campus at 1 p.m., December 8th, 2021.
