The purpose of the International Guest Student Program (IGSP) is to provide highly qualified students from abroad the opportunity to take advantage of Penn's excellence as a top-ranked teaching and research university. Students take up to one academic year of full-time undergraduate coursework and English Language study in Penn’s School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) as non-matriculated undergraduates. IGSP students will enroll in a full-time program of four credit-bearing courses each term during the fall and/or spring terms. Students have a vast array of courses to select from, with over 22 academic departments and 22 interdisciplinary programs in SAS. At the completion of the program, students will receive transcripts from the University of Pennsylvania and will be awarded credits that can be transferred to the home institution. This program is offered through the College of General Studies, in Penn’s School of Arts and Sciences.
The IGSP has the following characteristics:
1. Students will participate in the language/academic preparation program and will enroll in undergraduate courses as appropriate based on their language proficiency, and academic background and interests.
2. Upon completion of their study abroad at Penn, the students will return to their home institution.
3. The program will provide students with Penn coursework for credit, which can be transferred to the home institution to use toward the completion of the students’ undergraduate degree.
