This course is for students of non-biological majors. To introduce how cells work from the perspective of popularizing biological knowledge.
“The key problem of every living organism must finally be sought in the cell” The life of a cell is the same as that of human beings: “Birth, aging, disease and death”. In order to understand life, we must first understand the cell. Cells of the higher organism are high "socialization”. Knowing of how living cells work, or how a cell survival and reproduction as well as aging, we can understand how the individual cells are developed and how cancer occurs. This is the basis of understanding the various phenomena of life and solving various problems.
This course covers the maintenance of cell shape, cell movement, transport, proliferation, aging etc. Students can radically be aware of how cells play a role in life.
Rich pictures and animations used in this course, to explain the functions and structures of cell. We encourage students to participate actively in the discussion in class. By the course of learning, we hope that students could grasp the basic knowledge of the cell, and understanding the problems related to the cell in our life, as well as the latest progress in cell research. This is the aim of the course.
